NEET MDS Eligibility Criteria: What You Need to Know

The NEET MDS 2025 eligibility criteria will be announced by the NBE along with the information bulletin, which is expected to be released in the fourth week of January 2025. Based on last year's criteria, the eligibility details are as follows:

  • Candidates must have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree from a university or institute recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
  • They must be registered with the Dental Council of India (DCI) or a State Dental Council (SDC) with either a permanent or provisional registration.
  • Candidates must have completed a 12-month compulsory rotatory internship by the date specified by the NBE.

Last year, the cutoff date for completing the internship was initially set as March 31, 2024, but it was later extended to June 30, 2024. This year, the internship completion cutoff is also expected to be June 30, 2025.

NEET MDS 2025 eligibility criteria for Jammu and Kashmir aspirants

If you did your BDS in Jammu and Kashmir, you can't apply for 50% of the All India Quota (AIQ) seats unless the Indian government chose you for a seat quota. If that's the case, you must send a signed letter saying the government nominated you, along with your application form.

Eligibility criteria for Foreign Nationals

Foreign nationals can take the exam even without DCI registration. However, they should be a registered medical practitioner in their home country.

Who Can't Take the Exam?
  • If you break any eligibility conditions, you can't take the exam.
  • If you somehow take the exam but are found ineligible later, your application will be cancelled.
  • If you don't finish your 12-month internship by June 30, 2025, you can't take the exam.
